When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up.

The ones who should have stayed left. The One who won't, stepped in.

Betrayal cuts deepest from the people meant to be safe. This verse doesn't pretend that doesn't happen — it names the worst version, even a parent walking away. And right at the place of being dropped, it says: He takes you up. Where you were let go, you are being gathered. You have not been left without a keeper.
